Pakistan waives registration fee for IT companies in underserved areas

The Pakistan Software Export Board has waived registration fees for IT companies in underserved areas, including call centers and start-ups.

Except for Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Karachi, the fee has been waived for all regions.

Osman Nasir, PSEB MD, says the IT industry in Pakistan has reached a significant milestone in its journey.

According to Nasir, the incumbent government is taking all necessary measures to ensure long-term growth and promote IT exports that are already tax exempt.

“Measures are being taken in Pakistan’s secondary and tertiary towns to develop the IT industry ecosystem,” he said. “This is expected to expand the ecosystem of Pakistan’s IT industry and thus create a vibrant culture of technology throughout Pakistan.”

According to the PSEB MD, information technology parks are being prioritized by the government to achieve this goal.

In Gilgit, which is entirely occupied by IT firms, one such park was recently inaugurated.
