A Memorandum of Understanding was initiated by the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to establish the culture of entrepreneurship as a step towards growth and poverty alleviation.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Asif Tanveer and PITB Senior Program Manager Hammad Bin Abdul Khalique duly signed the MoU. The ceremony was attended by UAF Research Director Prof Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir, UAF Academic and Industry Linkages Manager Dr Khurram Zia, UAF Business Incubation Center In-charge Imran Munawar and other notables.
Capacity-building sessions will also be held under the arrangement, whilst the PITB would provide students with financial assistance to initiate and run their business plan.
UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Tanveer said that UAF is keen to encourage creativity and entrepreneurship by enhancing the students’ abilities so that they can effectively fulfill their responsibilities for the country’s uplift. This program would provide the UAF with financial support to set up a National Incubation Center. The initiative will also provide selected startups with financial assistance.
Via an array of business support tools and facilities, the National Incubation Center will facilitate the efficient growth of business startups. He encouraged the university students to engage in said program.
Hammad Bin Abdul Khalique said that PITB is the base of the innovation economy in Punjab. He said that for a promising future, MoU with UAF would help boost the entrepreneurial abilities among the students.
