Pakistan & Hungary

Dr. Istavan Grafi, Commercial Advisor of the Hungarian Embassy in Pakistan, talked to the All Pakistan Business Forum team (APBF). The APBF team that met him in his office was made up of APBF President Syed Maaz Mahmood, Secretary General Khurram Niaz Khan and APBF Chairman of the Lahore Board, Aamir Munir, who discussed the roadmap for the establishment of a forum to increase bilateral trade between the two countries.

Dr. Istavan Grafi said in an interactive meeting that efforts are needed to turn cordial ties into two-way trade to boost economic growth in both countries. The business advisor dilated on the parallels between Pakistan and Hungary, saying that agriculture remains the pillar of Hungary’s economy, like Pakistan. However, in making its agricultural practices productive with a much higher per acre yield, the nation has adopted a scientific approach and various modern technologies. Pakistan will greatly benefit from the experience of Hungary in this regard. He said his Embassy focuses on a broad range of programs to work with Pakistan to pursue good partners, including trade, education, public diplomacy, culture, gender equality, and growth.

Both sides agreed to proceed, through a constructive approach and enhanced cooperation, to enhance bilateral trade and investment. Technical assistance in the areas of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and food processing was provided by the Hungarian side.

APBF President Syed Maaz Mahmood said the APBF is already working in Pakistan with the Hungarian Embassy and is committed to improving that relationship in the future. He said that the APBF had previously signed with the Embassy of Hungary a Memorandum of Understanding to promote trade ties through trade delegation exchanges to foster closer understanding between Pakistan and Hungary.
