Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC), Pakistan’s leading natural gas utility provider, has appointed Muhammad Amin Rajput as the acting Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The announcement was made in a formal notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.
The decision follows a board meeting held on 12 September 2024, where it was confirmed that Rajput would assume the role after the tenure of the outgoing MD and CEO, Imran Maniar, concludes on 13 September 2024. Rajput’s appointment is for an interim period.
This development comes after Maniar tendered his resignation earlier this month, citing his desire to “pursue other opportunities.” SSGC’s Board of Directors expressed their respect for Maniar’s decision, issuing a statement that acknowledged his contributions and formally accepting his resignation.
Rajput, a well-respected figure within SSGC, has been with the company since March 2012, initially serving as Chief Internal Auditor (CIA). In this role, he was instrumental in enforcing the Code of Corporate Governance and Code of Ethics, cementing his reputation as a leader in finance and corporate management.
His tenure as the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from February 2015 to June 2016 was marked by significant accomplishments, including the completion of multiple pending financial statements and the successful closure of the Rs60 billion financing deal for the RLNG Transmission Pipeline Project.
Rajput brings to his new role extensive domestic and international experience in operations, finance, and internal audit. His leadership style is described as inspirational, with a proven track record of fostering a high-performance team culture.
With his appointment, SSGC is poised for continued growth and stability under Rajput’s guidance. As the acting CEO, he is expected to steer the company through its interim phase, while leveraging his expertise to enhance the organisation’s operational efficiencies.
