Federal Minister for Commerce and Industries, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, has proposed the establishment of “business parks” in major cities as part of the country’s strategy to enhance its global trade connections. Dr. Ejaz made this announcement on Twitter, seeking suggestions from the business community regarding these parks, which are anticipated to play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s economic development.
The official statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries outlined that these business parks or facilitation centers for traders would serve as hubs for foreign traders, ultimately strengthening trade relationships and driving economic growth.
In a recent meeting with prominent exporters and traders, including Fawad Mukhtar, CEO of Fatima Fertilizer; Anwaar Ahmad Ghani, CEO of Ghani Glass Ltd; Mian M. Ahsan of US Apparel and Denim; Fawad Javaid of Din Textile; and Faisal Afridi of Haier Appliances, Dr. Ejaz discussed his vision for these business parks.
During the meeting, Dr. Ejaz reiterated his commitment to exploring every avenue to realize Pakistan’s export potential. He emphasized that these proposed business parks would serve as essential catalysts in promoting Pakistan’s economic growth and global prosperity.
The discussion also touched upon the establishment of buying houses or the utilization of rental buildings managed by the local business community to address the pressing need for facilitating foreign traders.
Dr. Ejaz proposed a strategic approach that involves targeting specific countries based on their respective sectors. This tailored strategy aims to maximize the impact of Pakistan’s export efforts and enhance global trade relationships.
