Telenor Pakistan’s Board of Directors has named Khurrum Ashfaque as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Irfan Wahab Khan. Irfan Wahab Khan will transition to a new role as Senior Vice President (SVP) in Telenor Asia. This change will be effective from September 15, 2023.
Khurrum Ashfaque, who previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Telenor Pakistan, brings 17 years of experience within the company to his new role. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in repositioning Telenor Pakistan as a robust and forward-looking company.
Jørgen A. Rostrup, Head of Telenor Asia and Chair of the Board of Telenor Pakistan, expressed confidence in the transition: “I am pleased to see Khurram stepping up and taking the CEO role. Irfan Wahab Khan will also retain his role as Chair of the Board of Directors in Telenor Microfinance Bank. He will contribute his experiences and insights to Telenor’s broader regional ambitions in his new role within Telenor Asia.
Irfan Wahab Khan joined Telenor in 2004 as the first employee of Telenor Pakistan and has held various leadership roles across Telenor Group in both Europe and Asia. Under his leadership, Telenor Pakistan achieved business resilience and advanced its digitalization agenda.
